PLATTSBURGH — Thomas Roland Ayres, 68, a longtime resident of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at CVPH Medical Center following a long battle with cancer., He was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Plattsburgh, the son of Roland and Ruth (Alpert) Ayres. Tom graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1958 and from Union College in 1962 before serving in the Air Force Reserves., Tom became co-owner of Cumberland Motor Sales, Inc. with his brother, Tim, after the death of their mother, Ruth. His father founded the business in 1934, and in 2000, after 34 years in business, Tom decided to retire and the Ford franchise was sold., Tom actively played softball and basketball, was passionately fond of music and was a skilled arranger. He sang baritone with the Cumberland Bay Barbershop Chorus for many years and sang in several quartets, including Eclectricity, Simply Devine, The Dreamers, 'Cross The Pond, Northern Express and By Standers, to name just a few. Due to his son's fight with muscular dystrophy, Tom devoted many hours raising funds to help find a cure., Tom is survived by his wife, Jane of Morrisonville; his daughter, Heather Kumta, and her husband, Sunil of Schenectady; his stepson, Edward Orr, and his wife, Karisa of Castaic, Calif.; a brother, Timothy Ayres, and his wife, Susan of Plattsburgh; a granddaughter, Katie Kumta of Schenectady; two nieces, Tia Wilkson and Marnie McPhail; and a nephew, Jamie Morris., His parents; his son, Ricky; and a stepson, Christopher Orr, predeceased him., He will be remembered for his quick smile, hearty laugh and great sense of humor. Tom was compassionate, kind and quick to offer help. EAST WORCESTER _ Emma Mae Ball, 93, of East Worcester, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at home with her loving family surrounding her. Emma was born in Fultonville on May 17, 1916, the daughter of Howard and Olive Borden. She married Frederick C. Ball on Dec. 24, 1934. Emma was a homemaker, and lived her life for her family, always putting them first. She was loved by her children and their families more than words could ever say. We will miss her terribly. Henry A. "Hank" Brown, age 72, of Medina, entered into rest on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Medina Memorial Hospital. Born May 29, 1937 in Barker, he was the son of the late John and Louise (Fetty) Brown.Hank had worked at various jobs over the years, but most recently at BMP in Medina. He enjoyed playing cards and socializing with family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jamie (Cindy) Brown of Manchester, TN, Calvin Brown of Lockport, Kathy (John) Moore of Maryland, and Roger (Belinda) Bisig of Wisconsin. Brother of Florence Smith of Fillmore, NY, Alton (Ellen) Brown of Lockport, and the late Bertha, John, Louise, Laurel and Richard. Special uncle of Pam (Robert Jr.) Boyer of Medina. Connie, as she was so affectionately called, dedicated her life to the care, support and nurturing of her family. Celia Marie Kisamore (Coddington), known fondly as “Mom” or “C” by her friends in Superior, Wis., 73, passed away April 13, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minn. She had spent the past six months visiting her children, three months in Arizona and three months in California, when back in Wisconsin for just six days the cold weather took its toll. She became ill and passed in her sleep surrounded by friends. She was born March 2, 1936 in Hornell, the daughter of John and Celia M. Coddington. She lived in Superior, Wis. with Jerry Graham, the love of her life, and continued to live in the community after his passing, for 20 years. She loved fishing on the lake, being with friends and cooking for others. She could be found serving up home-cooked meals at Charlie Brown’s, the local hangout, during every holiday or Green Bay Packers’ game. “C” was also known to play a mean game of Yahtzee and cards with the women at the Aging Resource Center in Superior, Wis. She is survived by her children, Nigel Nary and wife Tami Bellot of Sacramento, Calif., Pat Nary of Cheyenne, Wyo., Gigi Rock and husband, Al Rock of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tracy Burns and husband Ed Burns of Ruth, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Loresa Nary; seven grandchildren, Brett Nary, Justin Nary, Jeremy Carnako, Kris Carnako, Athyna Rock, Jennifer Burns and Stephanie Burns; five great-grandchildren, Lane and Jaxon (Jeremy’s children), Destini, Keyra and Angyl (Kris’ children); her brother, Hubert Coddington of Hornell; and sister, Bonnie Gibson of Hornell. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jason R. Coddington, John C. Coddington and Keith Coddington; and sister, Janice Bogardus. Christopher A. “Chris” Beherns, 22, of 49 North Main St., Hornell, died unexpectedly Saturday (June 13, 2009) at his home. Born in Rochester on Sept. 6, 1986, he was the son of Douglas and April (Dorey) Beherns, Jr. A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Chris attended Hornell High School and later earned his GED. He had been employed as an edge bander at Gunlock Corporation in Wayland for about three years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking and fishing. He also enjoyed spending countless hours working on his vintage Cadillac El Dorado.  Chris was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Beherns, Jr.; his sister, Alisha Mae Beherns; his paternal grandfather, Douglas Beherns, Sr. Surviving are this mother, April (Dewane Burdick) Beherns of Hornell; two brothers, Robert “Rob” Beherns and Thomas “Tom” Beherns, both of Hornell; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Rosemary Dorey of Tennessee; his paternal grandmother, Darlene Beherns of Churchville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Crossman Jr., 78, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga., Born in Ticonderoga, Oct. 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Franklin A. Crossman Sr. and Frances (Dellfish) Crossman., Frank was a lifelong Ticonderoga resident and was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School., He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving honorably during the Korean War, where he served for 3½ years., He was a member of the American Legion Post 224 of Ticonderoga and was formerly president of the Ticonderoga Fish &Game Club., Frank played guitar and sang for the local "Shadows" Band., He was a Union employee for local 186 in Plattsburgh from 1975 until his retirement in 1993., Frank will be remembered mostly for his willingness to help people in need., Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elinor R. (Butter) Crossman; two daughters, Deborah Petrovich of New Hampshire and Donna Jean Crossman of Ticonderoga; and four grandchildren, Alicia Woodard, Tammy Luther, Julie Conley and Anthony Petrovich., He was predeceased by one daughter, Darlene Marie Crossman, in 1960. Robert E. Darlak, age 65, of Wheatfield, entered into rest peacefully June 13, 2009, with his family at his side, after a brief illness. Born February 13, 1944, son of the late Edward and Josephine Darlak. A U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and based in Camron Bay, he was employed at Unipunch Products, Buffalo, over 30 years and S and R Instruments for 10 years. Hopewell Junction, NY D. Zeke Ezekowitz passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2009. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, on Feburary 26, 1952, Zeke was the son of Meyer and Riva Ezekowtz who had survived the Holocaust. Mr. Ezekowitz attended Brooklyn Technical High School, continued his education at Polytechnical University and went on to Brooklyn College where he studied pre-law and graduated with a degree in Political Science. While at Brooklyn College, he was a founding father of the Delta Delta chapter of the national fraternity Tau Delta Phi. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami, School of Law and was admitted to the Florida and New York State Bar. His law career began in the Miami Public Defenders Officers. Mr. Ezekowitz met his wife, Tiffany while both were attending the University of Miami. They were married at Vassar College Chapel in Poughkeepsie, NY, on July 27, 1980. They resided in Florida and later took up residence in NY in 1991. While in Florida Zeke was instrumental in the founding of the City of Westo, FL. During his lifetime he enjoyed the company of his family and friends in New York and Florida and enjoyed spending the summers at the Jersey Shore. Mr. Ezekowitz is survived by his devoted wife, Tiffany; his sons, Asher Luke and Randy Simon. In addition to his wife and sons he is survived by his mother-in-law, Lena Cifone; his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Tony Baratta; brother and sister-in-law, Abraham and Vanessa Ezedowitz; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Patricia Cifone. He was uncle to Lisa Kelly, Daniel Goodes, Amanda, Bobby, and Joey Cifone, and great-uncle to to Ruth and Michael Kelly and Sophie Goodes. FRANKLIN _ Eugene T. Huyck, 80, of Treadwell, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at his residence. Eugene was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of the late Clarence and Irene (Franklin) Huyck. He married Jean Trapp on Nov. 15, 1952. She predeceased him May 8, 2001. Eugene enjoyed dairy farming as well as the winters spent in Florida. He especially enjoyed being with his family, his grandchildren and playing cards. He was a member of the Treadwell United Methodist Church. Eugene is survived by his children, Terry Huyck, and his wife, Donna, of Treadwell, Beverly Koopmann, and her husband, Ralph, of Treadwell, and Robert Huyck, and his wife, Lisa, of Treadwell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Traci Huyck, and her companion, Garrett Sitts, Tyler Huyck, Travis Huyck, Lindsay Huyck, and Lynndon Huyck; his brother, Roland "Doe" Huyck, and his wife, Jackie, of Treadwell; his sister, Marjorie "Bae" Arnecke, of Kerrville, Texas; several nieces, nephews and his special friends, the Lutz sisters. Eugene was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Angel Huyck; and his uncle, Ralph Huyck. Mr. James Enoch Chorlton, 84, of 38 Clinton Ave., Fort Plain, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Plano, Texas, after a brief illness. Jim was born in Swinton Staffs., England, on August 23, 1924, the son of Joseph and Florence (Cartlidge) Chorlton, and was educated in schools in England. He left England and went to Sudbury, Canada, in 1957, and then came to the United States in February 1965, first settling in New Jersey. He then moved to Sable, N.Y., near Indian Lake where he owned and operated the Squaw Brook Motel from 1983 until he retired in 2000. He first married Mary Mann in October 1948. She predeceased him on November 21, 2002. He then married Gladys Pointon Bailey on July 31, 2004. Jim is survived by his wife Gladys; his children, sons Andrew and his wife Kristy Chorlton of St. Johnsville and Steven Chorlton of North Carolina, and his daughter and her husband, Patricia and David Ashford of New Jersey; his sisters, Josie and her husband Harold Thomas of New Jersey and Dorothy and her husband Jack Stubbs of Doncaster, England; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his step children, Morton Pointon II of Dolgeville, Carol and her husband Ralph Begeal of Bath and Krystal and Chris Reed of Plano, Texas. Mrs. Julia A. Firlet, 68, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Albany Medical Center.  She was born in Little Falls on May 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Hardish Mezik. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1959. She was married to Joseph W. Firlet on June 10, 1967 in St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Firlet passed away on December 19, 2003. Mrs. Firlet was at one time employed by Univac, Scheidelman’s, GE and lastly as a Check Writer for Metropolitan Life Insurance, Utica for many years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and its St Anne’s Society, St. Stanislaus Christian Women’s Group, American Legion Post 229 Aux., Walter Skiba Post #20 Aux and the Senior Center. Julie loved to play pinnacle and pitch especially in tournaments and was a volunteer at Faxton-St Luke’s Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Julia Annutto, formerly of Route 5, Herkimer, and most recently residing with her daughter on Westwood Drive, Herkimer, the beloved matriarch of the Annutto family, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, June 8, 2009. Her passing, which was unexpected, occurred in St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Mrs. Annutto was born in St. Johnsville on August 10, 1919, daughter of the late John and Rose (Ziemba) Droski, and was educated in St. Johnsville schools. In April 1935, she was joined in marriage with Anthony Annutto, with whom she shared a union of 54 years until his passing on February 13, 1990, instilling in their children the value of hard work and dedication. This was the same tradition that Julia and her husband carried on in the running of the Annutto Truck Farm and Green Houses for 50 years, serving the needs of many throughout the Mohawk Valley and Oneonta areas, which over the years became truly a successful “family business.” Mrs. Annutto will be sadly missed by her loving family for the love that she offered and will be remembered mostly for her legacy and loyalty in the operation of the family business. Her greatest pleasures in life were surrounded around her family and also tending to flowers at the greenhouse and at home. Genevieve (Halinski) Krycki, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Schoellkopf Health Center, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and heart disease. Born March 3, 1916 in Chester, PA to Alex and Szenofa (Ida) Halinski. In 1936 she married the late John Krycki in Niagara Falls, NY, and remained married until separation in the 1960's. She was an employee of Carborundum Corp. for over 50 years and spent most of her life as a resident of Welch Avenue. Jenny lived life to the fullest, maintaining an active lifestyle well into her 90's. She enjoyed going to the casino, going out to eat and spending time with her dogs and great-nieces and nephews. Kyle T. Hysack, 19, of East Springfield, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, June 8, 2009, after a brief illness at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. Kyle was born on Feb. 23, 1990, in Cooperstown. Kyle was a 2008 graduate of Cherry Valley-Springfield High School. While in school, Kyle played soccer, baseball and track. He played the trumpet. He was honored with the Eagle Scout award in August of 2007. He recently finished his freshman year at Utica College. Kyle enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and spending time with his father and family in Herkimer. He loved animals. He loved being with his friends and family. Kyle was a loving, kind, compassionate, optimistic, caring soul. Kyle is unforgettable to all who knew him. Kyle loved the fact that so many people loved him and that he was JUST IT!!!! He had a wonderful sense of humor, which he got from his father, Brian. A smile that was always on his face. A love for the outdoors. An unbelievable zest and love for life. Kyle was a son, brother, cousin, grandchild, nephew and friend to be proud of. To say Kyle will be sorely missed does not even come close to the heartache and pain we will feel with him not here with us for the rest of our days. In the words of Kyle, “See ya later old man, I love ya!” and “Come here Brenda Marie and give me a kiss I gotta go. Born in Girardville, PA on May 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Eva and Adam Krick. She married George La Monica. She was a loving mother and homemaker for many years. After raising five children, she began working at Horton Hospital. She always treasured the fond memories of working in the Radiology Dept. and the wonderful friends she made while being there. She loved telling the stories and remembering her good friend Ruth. She enjoyed living in Florida with her husband George, boating and being a member of the Walking Club. Isabel was a Grandmother, Great Grandmother and recently had her Great Great Granddaughter named after her. Wallkill, NY Signe Evy Mansson passed gently as she slept in her home on Saturday night, June 13, 2009. She suffered a stroke which she did not recover from two weeks prior, but was brought home with the aid of hospice where she was cared for by her immediate family. The widow of Gunnar E. Mansson, the couple came to the U.S. from Skane, Sweden in the spring of 1949 with their two children, Rose Marie and U. Gunnar, beginning a journey from California to Florida via Massachusetts and New Jersey and in the process gave birth to two more daughters, Joan and Jean. A loving and supportive wife and mother, Mom was always there to care for her family and to encourage and protect them. After the death of her husband, Signe, she moved to Wallkill, NY to live in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Signe is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Robert Burkowski of Wallkill; her daughters, Joan Mansson of Wallkill and Rose Marie Mansson of Pompano Beach, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, U. Gunnar and Mary Mansson of Deltona, FL; grandchildren: William E. Burden, Jr. and fiancé, Cammie Akin, Erika Knight and husband, Wesley, Heather Strempel and husband, Robert, Maraka Szczesnik and her husband, David; great grandchildren: Joshua Gunnar Knight, Casey James Knight and Sophie Madison Stempel; nieces: Yvonne Sandell, June Larsson and Inga Pihl of Sweden. Mrs. Mary L. (Zito) DiMartin, a lifelong Frankfort resident, most recently of the Sitrin Home, New Hartford, went home to be with  the Lord on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2009 peacefully in that facility. Mary was born on March 4, 1916 in Frankfort, daughter of the late Salvatore and Congetta (LaPuma) Zito and educated in Frankfort schools.  On October 25, she was united in marriage with Salvatore “Sam” DiMartin in St. Mary’s Church, Frankfort.  He passed away on January 31, 1999.  Mrs. DiMartin was last employed with the former Derby Sportswear in Herkimer and was a devoted, lifelong communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort.   Mary remained active in the church and belonged to the Columbiana Federation and Altar Rosary Society.  She was also a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Frankfort.  In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing and ceramics.  Mary’s was the gentle heart of her family.  Her love for her children and their families was steadfast, loyal and unconditional.  She had a deep pride in her heritage and its traditions sharing them and passing them on to her loved ones.  Her happiest moments were those spent amongst family gatherings at her home.  She was loved and respected by all and admired for her special talents of cooking family favorites. Survivors include her beloved family: two sons: Joseph S. DiMartin and wife Janet of Frankfort, and Salvatore F. MOUNT UPTON _ Eleanor Matteson, 89, of Mount Upton, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Eleanor was born Oct. 23, 1919, daughter of the late Fred and Jennie (Crumb) Herrick in Earlville. On Feb. 15, 1941, Eleanor married Ellsworth Matteson in Mount Upton. He survives her. Eleanor was a member of the Calvary Baptist-Wesley Chapel in Zephyrhills, Fla. Eleanor was a wonderful musician, playing the piano and the organ in church. She volunteered her talents to entertain residents in nursing homes in Zephyrhills for 27 years. Eleanor and Ellsworth attended the First Baptist Church of Sidney, as well as the First Baptist Church of Mount Upton. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ellsworth Matteson, Mount Upton; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Menahem Lazarowitz, Tel Aviv, Israel; grandchildren, Jeff and Toba Lazarowitz and Danite and Shy Frenkel; great-grandchildren, Tom, Mai, Ben and Daniel; and five sisters-in-law, Irene Johnson, Arlyn Wade, Ruthie Hoyt, Janice Peckham and Ruth Matteson. Warren D. "Cowboy" Maynard, Sr., of Center Road, died suddenly June 10, 2009 after a short illness. Mr. Maynard was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in Pearl Harbor. Warren was a member of the US Trotting Association and was an owner and trainer of race horses. As a retired employee of Kodak Bldg. 57, he enjoyed camping, gardening and running the family farm. Lois P. McCabe, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Center, in Lockport, NY. She was born in Atholville, New Brunswick on June 26, 1922, the daughter of the late George and Sarah H. (Keighan) Olscamp.Mrs. McCabe moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1942 and was a secretary for Century Wholesale, Temple Beth EL and at Occidental Chemical in the legal department for 12 years, before retiring in 1982. She was member of the Sacred Heart Mother's Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Occidental Social Club. Mrs. McCabe loved taking care of her family and friends. She was the wife of the late Arnold McCabe, who died in May of 1957.Mrs. McCabe is survived by two daughters, Mary Margaret (George) St. Onge and Elizabeth Ann Rodriguez, both of Lockport; two sons, A. Richard McCabe of Detroit, MI and J. "Terry" (Theresa) McCabe of North Tonawanda, NY; eight grandchildren, Gregory, Marc, Dana, Laura, Patrick, Colleen, Sean and Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Natalie; two brothers, her twin, John (Julia) Olscamp of Niagara Falls, and George (Rita) Olscamp of Prince Edward Island; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Nancy C. McCurdy of Lake City, Fla. died Sunday (May 3, 2009) at the E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville following an extended illness. She was born in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Julianne and Earl Cline. She graduated from Wellsville High School, with a College Prep Diploma. Mrs. McCurdy attended Buffalo State Teachers College, Syracuse State and Lake City Community College. She and her husband moved to Lake City in the late 1950s. At the beginning of her career Mrs. McCurdy was a third grade teacher at St. Mary’s School in Olean, and later taught behavioral science of supervision and management at Lake City Community College. She joined the Florida Department of Labor in 1962 as an Employment Interviewer and rose through the ranks to become Regional Director. She retired in May 1995. Her responsibilities included traveling extensively throughout Florida overseeing offices in nine counties, with a budget of approximately $10 million. She was considered an expert speaker and witness for employer/employee relations. During her business career Mrs. McCurdy was the recipient of numerous honors including the Central Florida Development Council Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Professional Practices, Lake City Woman of the Year and was selected for the Lake City Leadership 2000 initial class of 20 participants. She was a Charter Member of the Committee of 100 in Lake City and was an American Legion Auxiliary Member. Mrs. McCurdy was predeceased by her husband, John D. (Dan) McCurdy; her mother, Julianne Rogers; her father, Earl Cline; and her stepfather, Edward Rogers. Survivors include her sisters, Mary Ann Wright (Allen) of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Sally Goforth (Alan) of Gainesville, Fla.; niece, Tracy LaRocca (Tony); nephews, Brian Wright (Sandra), Lee Giles (Amy), Bruce Giles (Shannon), Doug Giles, Ben Giles (Stacy) and Travis Giles (Christy); and several great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Riel; stepson, Joseph McCurdy; stepbrother, David Rogers (Linda); and stepsister, Sherry Carpenter. Mrs. McCurdy was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City and often attended Holy Faith Catholic Church in Gainesville. Family was an integral part of Mrs. McCurdy’s life; and she also enjoyed playing bridge, watching Gator Football games, reading and discussing politics. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. May 7 at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 8 at Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Dan Nelson officiating. Rae L. Pinney, 74, of 312 Alma hill Road died in her home on Friday following a brief illness. She was born April 21, 1935 in Olean. The daughter of Raymond and Flornece McKinley Hull. On Nov. 8, 1953 in Olean, she was married to Robert Dewey Pinney who predeceased her on April 7, 2005. She had resided in Alma since 1953. She was a graduate of Olean High school and for many years was a member of Alma Vol. Fire Department. Carol Binkley Rowles passed away peacefully at home in Fresno, CA on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 27, 1937 to Myrtle and Ralph Binkley in Niagara Falls, NY, where she attended Pacific Avenue Elementary and LaSalle High School. Carol devoted her life to her family and moved with them to Fresno in 1977. She was strong, resourceful, warm and funny! In addition to spending time with her children and grandchildren, Carol loved to restore and improve homes she lived in and to find bargains at yard sales. She will be missed by her loving family and many friends, but always remembered with a smile. Carol was predeceased by her parents; sons, Michael, Willard Dell (Judy) and sister, Marilyn Scolase (Louis). She is survived by sons, William (Anne), Robert, Randall (Trea) and a daughter, Karey (James) Tobias, all living in California; as well as son, Ronald (Susan) in Western NY. Sharon enjoyed reading and dancing with her family; but most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired in 2007 after 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, playing cards, going to the casino and shopping. Patricia was a member of the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans. FRANKLIN _ James D. "Pete" Terry, 87, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home. Pete was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Hamden, the son of the late John C. and Merriebele (Foote) Terry. He married Frances Davis on Sept. 7, 1944. Pete worked as a farmer and a logger for most of his life. Pete is survived by his wife, Frances Terry, of Franklin; his six sons, Lynn, Gerald, Pat, David, Matt and Herman Terry, and their spouses. Mr. Thomas A. “Tom” Urtz, 58, a lifelong Ilion resident (James and Elm streets), most recently of Ocala, Fla., entered into eternal rest on Friday evening, June 5, 2009, in Tampa General Hospital. At the time of his passing he was surrounded with the love and support of his family. Tom was born in Ilion on July 5, 1950, a son of the late Richard and Peggy (Dwyer) Urtz, and graduated from Ilion High School. In July 1970, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in July 1974. On April 2, 1977, he was united in marriage with Cecelia Jones, a marriage of 25 years until her passing on January 30, 2002. Tom found happiness again when he married Robin Schimborski on November 18, 2006, in Ocala, Fla. He was employed as a cutter grind operator at Remington Arms, Ilion, retiring after 31 years of dedicated service, and then worked for Sorrento’s Pizza in Ilion part-time. In his leisure time Tom enjoyed listening to music and bluegrass, playing guitar and especially the banjo. He also was an accomplished woodworker. Mr. Urtz treasured the time spent with his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Tom is survived by his beloved family; his sons, Jeffrey Urtz of Ilion and Christopher Urtz and his wife Shannon of Frankfort; daughter, Lisa Urtz of Mohawk; two brothers, Steven Urtz and his wife Celena of Arizona and Robert Urtz of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ann Cotter of Little Falls; and his cherished grandchildren, Damian, Angelina, Olivia and Anthony Urtz, and one granddaughter on the way in October. He is also survived by his step children, Joseph Thomas Schimborski, Jr. and his wife Joy of Ocala, Fla., and David A. Schimborski and wife Jessica of Nashville, Tenn.; his step grandchildren, Harold, Tia, Alyssa Beth and Hayden; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Tremblay, 78, of Dennis Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at her home with her loving family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country., She was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on July 17, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Rosina (Longtin) Meseck., She attended Mooers Central School. Lena had been employed by Even View TV at CVPH Medical Center from 1972 to 1987, Roe Industries and JCEO. Tyler R. Scanlon, 25, of House Hill Road, Salisbury Center, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2009, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in the town of Stratford. Tyler was born on November 2, 1983, in Little Falls, beloved son of Robert and Karen (Voorhees) Scanlon. He attended Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the class of 2001. He continued his education by attending Herkimer County Community College and earned an associate’s degree in construction management. Upon his graduation from HCCC, Tyler went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from SUNYIT. He was employed with Atlantic Testing Laboratories in the Utica branch as a project manager. Tyler was known to many people as a good kid. He grew up working alongside his father and mother in their family’s excavating business, Scanlon Construction, since he was a toddler. Tyler had a passion for his 1998 Corvette which was his pride and joy. He would spend countless hours fixing his Corvette with his dad. Another important aspect of Tyler’s life was his friends and he was fortunate to have had a great circle of them. He was always humoring anyone around him with jokes and made people laugh. His other interests included fast muscle cars, snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling and motorcycling. Tyler was a beloved son, special brother, cherished grandson and a great friend. He was always seen with a smile on his face and will be missed greatly by all that knew him. Tyler is survived by his parents, Robert and Karen Scanlon at home; a sister, Katie Scanlon, also at home; maternal grandmother, Jane Voorhees of Salisbury Center; paternal grandmother, Agnes Scanlon of Fort Myers, Fla.; several aunts and uncles, Joan and Henry Dise, Jean and Tom Ronan, Doug and Kathy Voorhees, Mary and Dan Ruzbasan, John and Connie Scanlon, Jeff and Lori Voorhees and Betty Scanlon; his girlfriend, Kassidy Cook; many cousins; and numerous friends, including Phil, Metott and Mike. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Glenn Voorhees; and his paternal grandfather, Paul Scanlon. Mary A. Winkler died May 30, 2009 in Clearwater, FL.
